H1N1 flu claims 99 lives in India!

"Swine flu" "hog flu" "pig flu" - its deadly!

"Alarming ratio of deaths around the world!"

H1N1 virus subtype of Influenza A virus has created serious causes. Drugs used to cure this disease, fails to control the mutation of this virus!

This virus is a subtype of Influenza A virus. This virus categorized by two protein (H and N) on the surface of the virus. H with 1,2,3 and N with 1 & 2 were commonly found in humans. This protein structure differs from strain to strain, due to rapid genetic mutation. This virus believed to be originated from farm in mexico, transmitted from pigs to humans. Current trivalent influenza vaccine is unlikely to protect against this H1N1 strain.

People who are in close contacts with pig are at higher risk. Screening at massive scale is very difficult and the spreading of this virus is rapid from person to person. This could spread through sneezing, cough and by touching infected area.

Asian countries is likely to be affected the most, because of the population and lake of awareness. WHO(World Health Organization) has warned that this virus can cause serious damage and spread rapidly in cold conditions and death toll may rise.

Recently found that drug used to treat this virus is not doing enough and mutation is rapid and uncontrolled leading to death of patients, worried by countries like japan.

After infection, treating with antiviral drug could minimize illness and feel better. Fluid balance , controlling fever, relieving pain and supportive care of the patient will recover them from this illness.

Tamiflu and Relenza is used to treat this kind of virus and importantly this should be taken with in 2 days of infection after your doctor prescribes.

Oseltqamivir and Zanamivir were believed to prevent from this virus. But not sure get advice from your physician before go for it.

"Most important if you got infected - stay at home - prevent spreading of virus"
